How do I play?
Teams:
- You can have teams of 6-10 people
- Only 6 on a court at a time, substitutions are allowed during timeouts or in case of injury
Getting the game started:
- Six Balls are lined up on center line
- Players of opposing sides rush forward and can grab the three balls on their side
- Ball must be taken back behind the attack line before thrown
How you get someone out:
- Hit them with a LIVE* ball below the shoulders
- Catch a LIVE* ball
*A LIVE ball is a ball that has not touched anything (ground, other player etc.)
This gets confusing when: If you get hit by a ball, and you or your team member catches it, the player hit stays in, and the one who through it is out.
You can deflect a ball with a ball in your hand, but after that it is a dead ball, meaning no one can get out by it and no one can catch it and get a player back in.
Head shots: ILLEGAL! if someone gets hit in the head, the ball is dead and no one is out
How you get someone back in:
If you catch a ball, the person who threw it is out and the one who caught it gets to pick someone from their team to get back in.
Time-outs:
- Each team is allowed one 30-second timeout per round
5-second violation:
- To reduce stalling, a violation is called if a team in the lead controls all six balls on their
side of the court for more than five seconds.
o First violation: stoppage of play and balls will be divided up evenely between teams
o Second violation: free throw at an opposing player of choice (whose back will be turned)
o Third violation: ejection of one player from offending team (offending team chooses who is out)
How you win:
- Eliminate all opposing players
- Five minute time limit/round
o If five minutes is exceeded the team with more players remaining is the winner
o Overtime will occur if the remaining player amounts are the same on each team
- Overtime
o 2 minute sudden death period
- The team with the best of three rounds will win the game
Officials:
- All decisions by the official are FINAL
